The heels were high, the gowns stunning and the jewelry covetable on the Oscars red carpet Sunday night. As the arrivals began, all eyes were on the nominees – including “12 Years a Slave” actress and season style star Lupita Nyong’o – as well as on all the other celebrities walking on this runway seen around the world.
Hollywood’s biggest night. Is there a better excuse to dress up?
Certain trends were expected: metallics, pastels and nudes, black lace.
For red carpet watchers, anticipation was high on what certain stars would wear. Nyong’o, for one. It would be hard for the Best Supporting Actress nominee and fashion “It” girl to top the teal Gucci gown with matching flower neckline and eye shadow she wore to the SAG awards. Or the red-caped gown from Ralph Lauren at the Golden Globes.
