This weekend could be a good time to find a shady spot, near a cool creek to hide out from what could well be a very warm period.
Today and Saturday are both supposed to be about 95 degrees, with gentle afternoon winds, according to the National Weather Service.

July was hot in the Northeast and West, cool in the South

Massachusetts and Rhode Island had their hottest Julys on record, according to a climate report released Thursday by the National Climatic Data Center. Many other states in the Northeast also had a very hot July, as did most of the far West.
