The families splashing in the play areas of the Marine Creek Park Pool in Fort Worth had no idea the pool’s water had to be pumped through a cooling device to keep it from being too warm.  They just knew that on the year’s hottest day so far the water was welcome relief.

Captain Cool

Patrick LeBold, better known to most in North Beach as Captain Cool, is the man your mother warned you about.
Or at least that’s what the people in Aberdeen, S.D., thought when they saw the young “longhair” maturing into adulthood in the 1960s. He said he was pegged as a troublemaking, transient hippie likely to plague an otherwise quiet town with fits of radicalism.

Cool, dry air mass dissolves humidity, brings pleasant Sunday


Cool, dry air filtered into central North Carolina Sunday after strong to severe thunderstorms on Saturday dumped more than 2 inches of rain on parts of the Triangle.
Sunday morning started off muggy, but as a cold front moved in, some of the humidity dissipated and temperatures stayed below the 90-degree mark in most of the viewing area.
